Everyone wants Youthful Looking Eyes
A way to get Youthful Looking Eyesis with a Blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelift and or eyelid surgery, has revolutionized the way we treat comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Traditional blepharoplasty surgery involved the removal of significant fat, skin and muscle in order to obtain what is perceived as “youthful” eyes. This one-size-fits-all approach often led to hollowness of the eye area and a rounded look of the corner of the eyes that looks unnatural and changes the entire appearance of the person. Also, complications were higher with this more extensive type of dissection.
Dr. Mittelman has helped to pioneer a more modern approach to address age related changes around the eyes. In addition to removal of excess skin and fat, several other age related changes including weakening of the skin elasticity and drooping of the cheek fat pad. Puffiness of the lower eyelids can be caused by an accumulation of fluid within the skin or most often caused by fat protrusion. This fat herniation can appear worse from allergies or fluid retention. This leads to a tired, unrested appearance. Lower lid fat herniation can contribute to dark circles under the eyes by shadows cast by fatty herniation. Often it is necessary not just to remove the fat, but reposition it to areas of deficiency. This leads to a smooth contour under the eyes, decrease puffiness and lessen the “dark circles.”
Patients often ask; what kind of specific changes will I experience to get Youthful Looking Eyes?
1. Removal of excess droopy skin from the upper eyelids
2. Decrease and eliminate lower eyelid bags
3. Lessen and camouflage dark circles under the eyes
4. Improve the contour of the lower orbital rim
5. Meticulous closure of eyelid incisions so that once they are healed, they will be nearly invisible.
