WHAT ARE INJECTABLE FILLERS?

In spite of skin care regimens that may effectively slow down the signs of aging, most people will eventually see wrinkles, creases, and sagging skin appear at some point in their lives. Injectable fillers, such as Juvederm®, Sculptra® and Radiesse®, may be used to rejuvenate your appearance easily and inexpensively, without surgery.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR AN INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE?

Injectable fillers are both safe and effective, but it is important that patients are in relatively good health and have realistic expectations about their treatment. WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING A CONSULTATION FOR INJECTABLE FILLERS?

During your initial consultation, we will discuss your medical history and your cosmetic goals, and assess the condition of your skin. You will receive information on the facility, every procedure we provide, potential risks, as well as prices and payment options. We can then help you decide which filler is most suitable for your skin, and schedule a treatment date.

WILL I RECEIVE ANESTHESIA FOR MY INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE?

We apply a topical anesthetic, local anesthetic or numbing gel before administering any injections in order to keep you as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

HOW ARE INJECTABLE FILLERS PERFORMED?

Dermal fillers are administered through a series of injections just beneath the surface of the skin using a fine-gauge needle.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE FOR AN INJECTABLE FILLER LAST?

The typical procedure takes about 45 minutes, but some dermal fillers require multiple treatments.

HOW MUCH PAIN CAN I EXPECT FROM THE INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE?

Most patients report little to no pain or discomfort during their treatment.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT OF THE RECOVERY AFTER MY INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE?

Injectable dermal fillers cause nothing more than some redness and swelling near the injection sites, and these symptoms normally disappear in 24 to 48 hours.

SHOULD I PLAN TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK AFTER MY INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE?

No recovery time is required following a dermal filler treatment, and you may return to work immediately following your appointment.

WILL MY INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE BE COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Because most health insurance carriers don’t cover elective cosmetic procedures, dermal fillers are generally not covered by insurance.

HOW MUCH DO DERMAL FILLERS AND INJECTABLES COST IN SAN JOSE?

Several factors determine the cost of every treatment, such as the combination of products that are used and how many injections are applied. To help our patients manage payment options, Mittelman Plastic Surgery accepts personal checks, cash and credit cards. You may also be able to obtain financing.

HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT THE RESULTS OF MY INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE TO LAST?

Results vary with every patient and the filler used. Most patients will require periodic treatments to maintain results. Juvederm® and fat injections may last for about six months while Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC may last up to 12 months. Both Voluma™ XC and Sculptra® are considered to be long-term treatments that may last for two years or longer. Radiesse® treatments typically last for about 18 months.
