TYPES OF FACIAL SURGERY OFFERED
At Mittelman Plastic Surgery, board-certified facial plastic surgeon Harry Mittelman, MD, offers the following types of facial plastic surgery:
Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is commonly known as eyelid surgery. This procedure lasts one to three hours and is performed using either a combination of sedatives and local anesthesia, or the patient is put under general anesthesia. The procedure targets and removes excess fat and eyelid skin through small incisions in the upper and/or lower eyelid creases. A related procedure, transconjunctival blepharoplasty, is an option for patients who only wish to target fat deposits under the lower eyelids; this procedure is less invasive, as incisions are only made on the inner lower eyelid.
Brow Lift
A sagging brow line, worry lines and other signs of aging on the forehead can be corrected through a brow lift. A brow lift can provide patients with a youthful look instead of the tired, angry look which is given off by brow furrows and horizontal lines. The area above the eyes is lifted and smoothed, erasing aging lines.
Cheek Augmentation
The cheek and cheekbone regions of the face can be augmented and defined using malar and submalar augmentation procedures. Dr. Mittelman is a pioneer of facial implant surgery. The Mittelman Pre-Jowl Implants are the most popular implants of that type in the United States and are used worldwide.
Chin Implant
Mentoplasty, or chin augmentation, is a procedure which corrects a chin which has receded and gives the jaw line a new shape. Chin implants are inserted during the procedure to enhance the look of the jaw and to create a balanced facial appearance. Dr. Mittelman is a pioneer of facial implant surgery. The Mittelman Extended Chin Implants are the most popular implants of that type in the United States and are used worldwide.
Facial Liposuction
Facial fat deposits located on the neck, jaw area and cheeks can be removed through facial liposuction.
Facelift
A facelift can turn back the effects of aging that have affected your face over time. A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is the third most sought after cosmetic surgery, thanks to the youthful look it can create. Look more youthful and put your best face forward always with a facelift.
Mini Facelift
A mini facelift is less invasive than a full facelift, involving fewer incisions. There are many types of mini facelift procedures, which may be performed together to create the desired look, including cheek tuck-ups, submentoplasty, a mini lift, neck lift, S-lift and other trademarked procedures.
Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation creates fuller lips through the use of lip injections or lip implants.
Neck Lift
Platysmaplasty, or a neck lift, tightens neck skin and corrects sagging neck muscles. This procedure works to erase neck bands and saggy skin below the jaw, creating a defined and firm neck and jawline region.
Otoplasty
Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is typically performed under general anesthesia and lasts two to three hours for younger children. Sedation and local anesthesia may be an option for older adolescents and adults undergoing the procedure. Commonly, incisions are made behind the ear, and the ear is reshaped by reforming, removing or repositioning ear cartilage. The ear may also be anchored via suture to create a new ear shape.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a nose reshaping procedure and is one of the most sought after facial surgeries. The nose shape can be redefined by removing bumps, increasing or decreasing the size of the nose, reshaping the nose tip or bridge, reducing nostril width or correcting the angle of the nose. Nose surgery can balance facial harmony and provide a natural look.
Revision Rhinoplasty
Revision rhinoplasty, or secondary rhinoplasty, occurs when the same procedure is performed on a patient who has undergone the procedure in the past. A revision rhinoplasty may be performed to improve nasal function and nasal aesthetics in someone who has undergone rhinoplasty before.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Injectable fillers can be used to reshape the nose and improve symmetry without the need to undergo a surgical procedure.
