Learn more about IPL treatments
To get the optimal results from IPL therapy, Dr. Mittelman and Dr. Hershcovitch recommend that our patients do 5 IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments, performed 4-6 weeks apart.
What are IPL Treatments?
IPL® (Intense Pulsed Light) is also known as a photo-facial. Photo-facial is an innovative method of quickly and comfortably improving the texture, tone, and color of your skin, not only on your face, but also on your chest, arms, and hands without the need for any anesthetic. Dr. Mittelman and Dr. Hershcovitch are experts in laser facial rejuvenation and specialize in IPL photo-facial treatments.
What is IPL good for?
IPL Photofacial Treatments are fantastic for treating a wide variety of skin and dermatologic conditions. IPL treatments work very well to reduce
- Age spots
- Rosacea
- Sunspots
- Brown spots
- Freckles
- Birthmarks
- Seborrheic keratoses
- Hyperpigmentation
- Spider veins
- Capillaries
- Decreased size of pores
Why 4-6 weeks apart? Our skin cells refresh and regrow approximately once per month. It is preferable to allow the skin to heal and return to its normal state before the next treatment. This will allow gradual diminishing of red, brown, and pigmented blemishes over the course of the treatments.
Why 5 treatments? Each treatment builds upon the next one and allows us to treat your skin in a gradual and sequential fashion. This allows for optimizing treatment regimens and settings. Not every patient will react the same to the treatments. Having a properly trained expert administer your treatments will increase the likelihood of an optimal result. This treatment has almost no downtime it is necessary to do 4-5 treatments to achieve the very best results. We recommend avoiding the sun for 2 weeks after the treatment to avoid any adverse reactions. We find that fall and winter are ideal times to do the treatments.
