WHAT HAPPENS DURING JUVEDERM TREATMENT?

Prior to your Juvederm treatment, Dr. Mittelman will meet with you for an initial consultation, discuss your specific concerns and goals, as well as your medical history. At this consultation, you will learn about the Juvederm® treatment, as well as payment options for your treatment, and what to expect during the procedure.

The Juvederm® procedure itself is fairly short and comfortable. No additional medication is usually required as Juvederm® contains lidocaine, preventing the need for an additional anesthetic. Dr. Mittelman uses special techniques during treatment to distribute the product evenly, carefully injecting specified amounts of Juvederm® beneath the skin’s surface. Dr. Mittelman may also apply a gentle hand massage at the injection site(s). Juvederm® takes effect immediately and results are visible upon completion of treatment.

There is no recovery period following a Juvederm® treatment and reported side effects are rare and minimal. The skin at the treatment site may initially feel taut, and you may experience some degree of redness or swelling at the injection site(s). Applying an ice pack should relieve any discomfort, and symptoms normally disappear within 24 hours.

Juvederm® results are immediately visible and may last up to one year before requiring a repeat treatment. As the Juvederm® begins to break down, you may return for touch-up treatments to keep the look fresh. During these maintenance visits, a smaller amount of Juvederm® is usually all that’s required to achieve results.
