JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC IN LOS ALTOS, CA

Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC is a popular dermal filler treatment to restore facial rejuvenation and is available for residents of San Jose, Palo Alto and the surrounding communities of California at Mittelman Plastic Surgery, located in Los Altos. WHAT IS JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC?

Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC consists of hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance produced by our own skin, much like collagen or elastin, the natural materials that support skin tissues to provide a youthful appearance. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture to the skin, increasing hydration and resulting in increased volume and fullness. Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC is used to diminish the appearance of folds, wrinkles, and fine lines.

The Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC treatment requires no incisions, sutures or bandages, and most patients return to their daily activities immediately following treatment. Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC is approved by the FDA, making it safe to use on adults who are in general good health.

Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC dermal filler produces instantaneous results as the substance fills folds and wrinkles that form around the mouth, nose, chin or cheeks. The injections are administered using a fine needle or cannula, and most patients experience little to no discomfort.

THE JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC PROCEDURE

The Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC procedure is safe and simple but requires a consultation with Dr. Mittelman, who will conduct a thorough evaluation and discussion of your concerns and goals after evaluating your medical history and ruling out any contraindications to injectable fillers. During this consultation, you may ask any questions you have about the treatment and probable results, as well as cost and payment options.

Dr. Mittelman has extensive experience with facial cosmetic treatments and can determine the precise locations to inject Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC for optimal results.
Your skin will be sanitized with an alcohol pad to eliminate pathogens before treatment, and in some cases, Dr. Mittelman may apply a gentle massage to smooth the skin tissue near the injection site and assist in dispersing the dermal filler. New Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC also contains a small amount of lidocaine, an anesthetic agent that numbs the skin and underlying tissue to prevent discomfort during the procedure.

You may continue your normal activities immediately following the procedure, and most patients experience minimal discomfort. We recommend you refrain from strenuous activity and avoid intense sunlight for the first 24 hours.

ARE YOU A CANDIDATE FOR JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC?

Extensive research has been conducted on Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC in patients between the ages of 35 and 65, and the treatment has been determined safe and suitable for all adult patients who are in general good health.

Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC may be used in patients who meet the following conditions:

• Normal to thick facial skin tissue
• Healthy skin without keloid or hypertrophic scars
• Normal skin with no pigmentation disorders
• Patients with no immunodeficiency disorders

We recommend you hold off on Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC treatments if you are taking medications that thin the blood, such as aspirin. Following a dermal filler procedure, you must also avoid direct sunlight, extreme heat, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours. The skin near the Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC injection site may feel sensitive for several days following the procedure, and you are advised to avoid additional treatments such as chemical peels or laser procedures for several weeks.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST FROM JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC?

Results of Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC treatments vary between patients, but most enjoy an improved facial appearance for nine to 12 months. Some patients have reported improvements that lasted more than one year, and you may undergo touch-up injections of this dermal filler with approval from Dr. Mittelman.

WHAT CAN A PATIENT EXPECT AFTER THE JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC PROCEDURE?

Following a Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC treatment, you may return to normal activities, but we recommend you avoid direct sunlight, hot temperatures, and strenuous exercise. Most patients notice an immediate improvement in their appearance caused by the reduction in lines and deep folds around the mouth and near the nose. You should avoid rubbing the injection site for 24 hours to give your skin time to heal properly.

HOW SOON CAN A PATIENT RETURN TO WORK AFTER JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC?

Unless your job requires working in hot temperatures, direct sunlight or strenuous exercise, you may return to work immediately following the procedure. We recommend you avoid rubbing lotion or oils on the treated areas for at least 24 hours to prevent inflammation.
