Latisse can help with thinning eyelashes. Thinning eyelashes is a common side effect of the natural aging process and certain medical conditions, but people who suffer from thinning eyelashes or eyelash hypotrichosis can bring length and fullness to their lash line with a breakthrough prescription medicine known as Latisse®. What is Latisse?

Latisse is the first and only FDA-approved treatment that can make short, sparse, and light lashes longer, thicker, and darker. The eyelash enhancer was actually discovered as a side effect of LUMIGAN®, a drug used to treat glaucoma. Glaucoma patients who used LUMIGAN® eye drops discovered that their eyelashes grew thicker and longer in length over time. Latisse® was developed using 1/20th of the LUMIGAN® formulation and a brush-based delivery device, similar to an eyeliner brush, for topical eyelash application. The FDA approved the drug for eyelash growth in 2008.

If you’ve ever tried to extend the length and volume of your lashes with expensive commercial products, false eyelashes, and/or spa treatments, you can add permanent length and body to your lashes with Latisse®. The drug promotes eyelash growth in two ways: first by extending the natural growth phase of the eyelashes; second by increasing the total number of lash hairs that grow during the extended growth phase.

Results are gradual over time, with most users experiencing thicker, darker lashes within three to four weeks and full results in terms of lash length and thickness within four months.

How is Latisse® Administered?

Prior to receiving a prescription for Latisse®, you must meet with Dr. Mittelman for a one-on-one consultation where you’ll learn the wonderful benefits and possible side effects of the product. If the doctor determines that you are an ideal candidate, you’ll receive a prescription and a detailed description of how to apply the product to ensure proper treatment and use. Latisse® should be applied once every day using the following steps:

1. Remove any makeup and contact lenses if applicable, and thoroughly wash your face. Dry your face with a clean, dry face towel.
2. Take a clean applicator brush and hold it horizontally as you place a single drop of Latisse® on the bristles.
3. Brush the product along the upper lash line in the same fashion you would apply eyeliner, starting from the inner portion of the lash line to the outer portion of the lash line.
4. Gently blot away any excess product from the lash line with a tissue or cotton swab.
5. Discard the applicator and use a fresh applicator brush to repeat the process on the other eye.

Although Latisse® was developed for simple and convenient at-home application, Latisse® is not a cosmetic product; it is a prescription medicine that should always be used as directed. For optimal results, Latisse® should be applied once a day consistently for the recommended treatment period. Latisse® should never be applied to the lower lash line or eyelid or allowed to get into the eyes. NOTE: Latisse will only help you grow darker, fuller, longer lashes if you follow the recommended daily application regimen. Using Latisse® more than once a day will not accelerate your results or enhance the effectiveness of the product. If you stop using the product, the medicine will no longer be effective, and your eyelashes will revert to their original volume and length.

When Will Results From the Application of Latisse Be Noticed?

Some clients notice longer lashes within just a few weeks of starting their Latisse application regimen. The eyelashes will gradually become darker and fuller over time until you experience the full results in approximately 16 weeks or four months. After maximum eyelash growth and thickness has been achieved, you must maintain the daily application regimen to preserve your results.

How Much Does Latisse® Cost in San Jose?
