Only recently approved by the FDA, Volbella can be used in the cheeks, temples and tear troughs but it was developed by Allergan for the lips and smile lines. Volbella can:
- Plump lips / make them appear fuller
- Diminish vertical lip lines (a.k.a. smoker’s lines)
- Accentuate the lips borders
- Enhance the Cupid’s bow (the “M” part of the mid-upper lip)
Why Volbella Is Different
Volbella is composed of hyaluronic acid, the same natural substance used in its sister filler, Juvéderm, but Volbella also contains Vycross an innovative technology which makes the filler smoother, provide more lift capacity and last longer.

The Technology behind Volbella
The innovative combination of low and high molecular weights used in Volbella increases the efficiency of the hyaluronic acid chains and allows for a lower concentration of HA to be used. HA is what results in swelling so with Volbella there will be less swelling and less downtime. Also, the new filler contains a built-in lidocaine an aesthetic to any reduce pain felt during the injection.
Extended Duration of Volbella
Volbella has been available in Europe since 2011 and receives rave reviews from patients who report that results last up to twelve months as opposed to Juvederm which keeps lips pouty only for four to eight months. When Volbella went through clinical trials here in the US, patients confirmed that it hurt less when injected, caused less swelling than Juvederm and provided more natural- results.
