Dear Patient,
After more than 52 years of serving patients in the Bay Area, I am writing to share that I have made the decision to retire from active facial plastic surgery practice.
This is a bittersweet announcement for me. It has been one of the greatest honors and pleasures of my life to care for my patients and to be part of this community for so many years. My facial cosmetic plastic surgery practice has brought me tremendous joy, not only because of the work itself, but because of the relationships I have formed with so many wonderful patients along the way.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of caring for patients at many different stages of life. Some came to me for surgery, some for non-surgical aesthetic care, and many returned year after year. I have never taken that trust lightly. It has meant a great deal to me that so many patients have placed their confidence in my judgment, my hands, and my approach to care.
I have always believed that the best results in facial plastic surgery are natural, thoughtful, and personal. My goal has never been to make someone look like a different person, but to help each patient look like themselves, only refreshed, rested, and more confident. That philosophy has guided my work throughout my career, and I am deeply grateful to the many patients who have returned over the years and referred family and friends to my practice.
Throughout my career, I have also been fortunate to participate in many advances in facial plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine. From facial implant design and cosmetic laser surgery to office-based procedures and techniques designed to create natural-looking results with less recovery time. My focus has always been the same: to offer thoughtful, safe, effective care while helping patients look like themselves.
Over the years, patients have often commented not only on their surgical or aesthetic results, but also on the warmth and professionalism of the office.
Some members of my team have been with me for many years, and I am deeply grateful for their loyalty and the care they have shown to our patients and to one another. They have answered questions, calmed nerves, coordinated care, supported procedures, followed up after visits, and helped create an environment where patients felt welcomed, respected, and cared for.
I want to reassure you that I am in very good health, both mentally and physically. This decision is not being made because I have to step away, but because I believe this is the right time in my life to do so. After many decades of practice, I am ready to spend more time with my wife, my children, my 10 grandchildren, and my extended family, and to enjoy more time traveling, golfing, and being fully present with the people I love.
My retirement will be effective August 1, 2026. Until then, I will continue to see patients and complete scheduled care through my final day in practice.
As part of this transition, I have thoughtfully selected Adrian House, MD, FACS, of House MD Plastics in Palo Alto, as the facial plastic surgeon I am recommending for continued care. Dr. House is highly trained, kind, patient-centered, and shares my belief in natural-looking results. His office is nearby, and I feel confident referring my patients to him as I move into retirement. You can reach Dr. House with our existing telephone number 650-941-8888. This number will transfer to his office beginning in August.
To my patients: thank you. Thank you for your trust, your loyalty, your kindness, and the privilege of allowing me to be part of your lives and your care. I will always be grateful for the relationships built over these many years and for the opportunity to serve this community.
With sincere gratitude,
Harry Mittelman, MD
